"The Key to Autumn"

Paper size: 21 х 29,7 см. (8,3 х 11,7 inches)
SOLD UNFRAMED

This drawing was created using pencils and a pen, then colored with watercolor. I once illustrated a Korean folktale called "The Celestial Maiden," in which a benevolent spirit in the form of a deer helped the hero find love. Although work on the book was completed long ago, the image of that magical deer stays with me, and I often draw it.

This piece is titled "The Key to Autumn".It was created during the final days of summer 2026, when the air already held the scent of approaching autumn. It features a snow-white deer and other nature spirits within a forest that is beginning to shift its palette to shades of orange and brown. In the legends of many cultures, the white deer symbolizes a guide between the real world and the realm of spirits and dreams. I wanted to capture this liminal state—hovering somewhere between fairy tale and reality—through the imagery of nature preparing for autumn.
