Existential Crisis of the Posthuman SoulLimited edition print Paper Print
by Olga Li

£82.75

From an edition of 69

Size 29.7 x 42 cm (unframed)

This work explores the concept of the “soul” in an era of profound fusion between human and machine. The soul remains suspended in an uncertain limbo — trapped between data, codes, and electrical impulses — struggling to recognize itself. It is the crisis of those who have lost the map of their own self, questioning the meaning of life in a world where memory is stored on chips and emotions are turning into algorithms. Identity updates with a single click.
Through analog collage and mixed media, the piece visually represents this existential disorientation: a posthuman being suspended between the organic and the artificial, searching for authenticity in an increasingly simulated reality.

Original analogue collage. Available also as limited edition fine art prints in larger sizes upon request.

What truly pushed me to start this series was the digital memes themselves. They inspired me to explore the idea of “analogue memes” — the realisation that the meme did not begin with the internet, but has always been deeply rooted in our human culture. I believe that analogue collage, as an art form, reconnects us with the primal energy of something ancient and essential — its symbols, its gestures, and those raw, physical ways we have used for centuries to transmit ideas and images. It is a living, tactile, imperfect language that carries the artist’s breath, their fingerprints, the direct touch of the hand, and the beautiful fragility of the gesture. This is precisely what makes it feel so profoundly human. Today, perhaps more than ever, it deserves to be rediscovered and celebrated as a powerful, authentic, creative, and intensely contemporary form of art.

This work is part of my ongoing series of analogue collages.

P.S.: Please note that the colors and contrast of the images may vary slightly from the original artwork due to differences in monitor calibration and lighting conditions.
