Original artwork description
This original acrylic painting is inspired by an evening at Lake Neusiedl in eastern Austria.
A small sailing boat rests on the water as the setting sun transforms the lake into reflections of gold, orange, turquoise and deep blue. Thick layers of paint and expressive marks give the surface a strong tactile quality and create the impression of moving water and shimmering evening light.
The artwork is part of my Chromatic Austria series, in which I reinterpret Austrian landscapes through vivid colour, atmosphere and personal emotion rather than strict realism.
The painting was created with acrylic paint on stretched canvas, using brushes and palette knives to build rich layers of texture and impasto.
