Original artwork description
Alfred Currier is a fantastic contemporary painter living in Washington State. I don't paint like him, but I make master copies to learn how he creates his beautiful paintings. He simplifies form, uses bold colors and bold strokes of paint creating an impressionist painting. I did this particular study as a demo for my art theory students. I hadn't planned to paint that day, so a student gave me a piece of canvas to use. As I was painting I kept questioning, out loud, what the canvas was as it was so difficult to paint on. It turned out, because both sides of the canvas were stark white, I had painted on the wrong side!!! But, it did help me get more of the impressionistic expression I was looking for. Despite using the wrong side, the painting is still archival and ready to mount and frame.
"El Iris Study after Alfred Currier" is an original oil painting on 5.5 x 8.25 canvas. I generally paint alla prima, meaning in one sitting, and from life. All my work is done using professional and archival paints on archival canvas or linen. The painting comes unframed allowing you to choose a frame that will best suit your taste. If you would like help with framing suggestions or would like me to frame your painting, email me I'd be happy to help.
