This landscape is built from layered strokes of oil pastel, their rich, velvety texture leaving visible marks that catch the eye like blades of grass shimmering in the breeze. The meadow is alive with wildflowers blending into one another rather than appearing as individually defined blooms. Thick, expressive pastel marks create clusters of color that seem to vibrate against the lush greens beneath them. The horizon is softened with atmospheric blending, allowing the meadow to feel dreamlike.

The oil pastels lend the painting a tactile richness: thick, buttery layers overlap, colors are smudged and blended in places while remaining boldly distinct in others, & occasional broken strokes allow the underlying hues to peek through. Rather than striving for photographic realism, the composition captures the fleeting sensation of standing in a field on a warm summer afternoon - the dance of flowers in the wind, & the joyful abundance of nature through expressive color & texture.
