Drying Day (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Mia Hague

61 x 52 x 3cm (framed) / 52 x 43cm (actual image size)

£800

I'm always inspired by little cottages and bothys hidden in hillsides and forests. They are my favourite artworks to create.

I make up stories for those who may live there. I added washing for that extra sense of living in the picture.

It's done with acrylic paint and then I add in collage pieces after, taken from my collection of personal photos. The clouds, some trees, the cottage and washing.

I sign my initials on the front right, then also on the back.

It is framed in a rustic antique wooden frame, sourced in local antique shops. I like to find frames that work well with the feel of the paintings.

My work is not polished, it is messy and wild. I clean up the frames I use as much as I can without getting rid of age marks or petina.
