Dream Flight (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Adam Bogusz

There is a freedom that only visits you in sleep, weightless and certain and entirely your own. You wake from a flying dream wishing, just for a moment, you didn't have to come back down.
Dream Flight is an original acrylic painting on board, 30 x 20cm, part of my ongoing series The Middle Country. It began the way these paintings always do, with a loose, accidental ground, half accident and half intention, made somewhere in the middle where the paint and I meet. Out of that ground came a deep blue and crimson sky, birds streaming through the colour, and a single figure in red suspended mid-flight, weightless above it all.
I paint the things that mean something to me: my family, held in the figures who move through this glowing, imagined landscape. This one is about that particular kind of dream, the one where flying feels completely natural, and waking is the only strange part.
