Original artwork description:

Deep Water is a realist oil painting of a view looking across a lake on a late summer afternoon. I wanted to capture the space and tranquility of the moment and tried to do this by the unconventional composition of creating a large open space in the bottom two thirds of the painting.
Christopher Witchall’s unsentimental approach to his subjects combine traditional painting techniques with the realism and cool detachment of photography.
