Acrylic colour on thai handmade mulberry paper(kada sa) , deckled edges, 10 x 13.5 in., 25 x 34 cm
More of my cats. They are like mimes to me, with lots of body language. And they are always sitting around, posing for me. The effect can be quite dramatic on this parchment paper.
I use a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. It’s a thick parchment like paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect. The close up pictures are to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. Then there’s the work in progress.
I was very lucky the day I did this perspective shot. Sandy, one of the models, came over to check out the painting, and we got this dramatic capture!
For framing, leave the decorative edges exposed! They are an integral part of the composition.
