This painting came from the strange and powerful idea that even an ordinary goose can hold the gravity of an icon. The crown of maple leaves, jewels, fish, and small creatures turns the bird into a ceremonial presence — not ironic, but reverent and slightly uncanny. I wanted the viewer to feel both recognition and surprise, as if meeting a familiar being in its mythic form. For me, the work is about dignity, vigilance, and the hidden nobility of wildlife. It asks us to look again at what lives beside us every day.
