Original artwork description
This oil painting is contemporary interpretation of the legendary Ukrainian archetype, Cossack Mamay. In this piece, Mamay is depicted not merely is folk hero, but as a simbol of profound spiritual liberation.
My goal was to capture the essence of a "Man of Spirit"- someone entirely free from wordly attachments . He has transcrended aggression , the thirst for power , and the distraction of a hedonistic lifestyle. This is an image of ultimate inner peace and mindfulness. Through this work, l explore the idea that true freedom is found within , far away from the noise of earthly desires.
