History is never only what happened. It is also what gets recorded, repeated, edited and eventually accepted.

The two seated figures borrow the formality of an old photograph, but their faces are covered by blank sheets held by anonymous white-collar figures. Individual lives disappear easily inside larger narratives, reduced to numbers, categories or convenient versions of events.

What remains visible, and what is left out, often depends on who is doing the telling.
