Coastal Light: Sunlit Evening Cliffs (2026) Original Painting by Anastasiia Aguf

Coastal Light: Sunlit Evening Cliffs is an oil pastel painting inspired by the Mediterranean coast in the evening. Massive sunlit rock formations rise from the sandy shore, their warm colours glowing against the intense blue of the sea and sky.

Layers of oil pastel create a rich, tactile surface, combining ochre, burnt orange, violet, turquoise and blue. Expressive marks emphasize the rugged forms of the cliffs and the changing effects of light, while the open expanse of sky brings a sense of space and calm to the composition.

The painting captures a fleeting moment when the warm evening light transforms the coastal rocks, intensifying their colours and revealing the expressive character of the Mediterranean landscape.
