Changing landscape
Golden yellow sky,
Merging of three pigments,
Control and movement,
Reflective light,
Mark making.

Words and feelings
Original contemporary watercolour of my experience of the closest landscape to where I live on the outskirts of Shaftesbury called Wincombe.. Just over the border of North Dorset into Wiltshire.
I used Fabriano watercolour paper 300gsm 140lb cold pressed. Graduated washes were used for the light, all the way through the painting. I always wet the paper first. IA baseline technique for the treeline and ethereal backdrop. Control of where I place the strength of the pigments. Running my sable hair brush over the field area of light creating many markings for the Autumn to Winter grasses. Lastly I wanted a fence line, where the farmer had replaced all the way along the field margin with new fencing.

Materials used:

Cold pressed watercolour paper Fabriano 300gsm 140lb, French watercolours Sennelier, sable hair brush, Chinese brushes, filbert brush,
