There are moments when life simply picks you up and carries you forward, almost too much to hold. The only thing to do is let yourself be swept up in it completely.
Carried Away is an original acrylic painting on board, 60 x 45cm, part of my ongoing series The Middle Country. It began the way these paintings always do, with a loose, accidental ground, half accident and half intention, made somewhere in the middle where the paint and I meet. Out of that ground came a torrent of blue, cockatoos gathered in golden trees on either side, and a boy on a bicycle riding along the very top of it all, while the current pours on beneath him.
I paint the things that mean something to me: my family, held in the figures and the birds who move through this glowing, imagined landscape. This one is about the moments too big to steer, when the only choice left is to stop resisting and let the current carry you.
Painted with artist quality acrylics on MDF board. Ready to hang. Certificate of authenticity included. Ships worldwide direct from my studio in Brisbane, Australia.
