Buckingham Palace from Green Park was painted directly from life on an autumn day in Green Park, overlooking one of London's most iconic landmarks. Working outdoors allowed me to respond to the constantly changing light, atmosphere and movement that make painting in the city so rewarding.

Rather than simply recording the architecture, I was drawn to the relationship between the openness of the park and the grandeur of Buckingham Palace beyond. The changing seasons, shifting light and everyday life passing through the scene combined to create a strong sense of place.

Painted entirely from direct observation, this original oil painting reflects my ongoing commitment to capturing not only how a place looks, but what it feels like to stand there.
