Blue Longhorn Beetle (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Paul Ward

Iridescent and otherworldly, Longhorn beetles seem to be visitors from another place. Found throughout the world, they are incredibly varied in appearance. From wasp mimicking yellow and black to this beetle's machine-like blue shine.

First printing a circle in acrylic, then adding texture with chaotic splatters I built a surface on which this Longhorn could really shine. The burnt orange serves as a beautiful foil for the stunning petrol blue of the beetles wing cases. Final contemporary touches such as the geometric lines later added to the painting help the accented colours of the beetle really come to life.
