"Blue Fly - My First Tile"
50 x 70 cm - 3D Frame
This is my first work inspired by Portugal.

I arrived here and fell in love with the mosaics and tiles that tell stories in every corner. I wanted to pay them my own tribute.

The piece is composed of 36 modules in shades of blue and turquoise, arranged diagonally like a large mosaic. A 3D butterfly flies above each module.

Each butterfly is handmade, cut from paper napkins with prints reminiscent of blue and white Portuguese ceramics. They are raised from the background to create shadow and movement, as if they were about to leave the frame.

To achieve the traditional tile finish, I applied a layer of epoxy resin that gives it that deep shine, the vitrified texture, and the feel of a ceramic piece.

It is my first piece in this series, and it marks the beginning of my exploration of paper and Portuguese tradition.

Technique: 3D collage on textured cardboard, paper napkins, and epoxy resin.
Frame: White 3D box frame with depth to enhance the flying effect.
