Blue and Gold Harmony (2020) Original Oil Painting by Tetiana Surshko

80 x 100 x 2cm (unframed) / 80 x 100cm (actual image size)

£1,714.36

Overlapping blocks of cobalt, ultramarine and teal meet warm fields of sand, copper and real gold leaf in this large vertical abstract painting. Across the surface run fine stencilled ornaments in blue, like fragments of lace or old painted tiles, and quick scratches and knife flicks of cream and gold break the flat planes so the eye keeps moving. The gold leaf spreads diagonally through the centre of the canvas, soft and slightly crumpled, and changes from pale champagne to deep bronze as the light shifts during the day.

The painting belongs to my Space and Mood series, abstract works where colour, texture and rhythm carry the whole meaning. This one is about balance: cool and warm, matte and metallic, strict rectangles and delicate ornament. Blue brings calm and depth, gold brings warmth and light, and the small ornamental details give the composition a quiet, almost architectural elegance.

The canvas measures 80 x 100 cm (about 31.5 x 39.4 inches) in portrait format, a large size that holds a wall on its own. It suits a living room, an entrance hall, a dining room, an office or a hotel lobby, and it looks especially rich against white, sand or navy walls, next to brass, natural wood and linen.

It is painted in oil on stretched cotton canvas with applied gold leaf. The colour blocks are laid in with wide flat brushes and a palette knife, the ornaments are stencilled on top, and the gold leaf is pressed in irregular patches and left slightly textured so it catches light from every angle. The painting is signed, varnished to protect both paint and leaf, and the edges are painted, so it is ready to hang with no frame needed.

It ships stretched on its wooden bars in a sturdy protective box, never rolled, by tracked and insured courier from Lisbon, Portugal, usually within 3 to 5 working days. Keep it out of direct sunlight and dust gently with a soft dry cloth, never with water. If you would like a close-up of the gold and ornaments, a video of how the leaf catches light or a view in a room setting, send me a message and I will gladly help.
