Artwork description:

Strikingly coloured bizarre creatures and their riders, offering a humorous take on life’s many twists and turns. Small, distinctive sculptures that really stand out.

These people are sitting steadily on their Bizarre Creatures, whatever aerial acrobatics they might express. The riders are equally balanced whether their creatures are running along in a steady direction, gliding through the air with a grace not expected from such a blobular form, or leaping up in a sudden expressive imperative. It seems possible to remain in balance even when the circumstances are so bizarre. Even the unexpected can sometimes become familiar.

I made these sculptures by modelling with wax onto a wire armature, or framework, and then I moulded and cast them using my own innovative casting technique. The Bizarre Creature Riders are made of a beautiful translucent British eco-resin, allowing interesting glimpses through to their internal structure. You can see pictures of how I made them in the “Me at Work” section of my Profile. They are mounted on individual semi-translucent almost black flat acrylic bases, and are 40cm long all together, 19cm tall, and 6.5cm wide including the bases. They are initialled on each creature’s right side near its end, and come with a signed letter of authentication, stating its edition number.

They are robust and can withstand small knocks and movements in the home. Being made in a light-weight material, they each weigh less than half a kilo and are easy to transport and move about. I package them in a sturdy cardboard box and they travel very well by courier. They are for sale as a limited edition of 24, either all together or individually. See my further listings to purchase any of them separately, and please feel free to send me a message with any questions. There is a “Contact Me” button next to the “Follow Me” button under my profile images.

Thank you so much for your interest in my work.
