Beyond the Blue Divide diptych (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Tatiana Malinovscaia

Beyond the Blue Divide is an original contemporary abstract seascape diptych by Tatiana Malinovscaia, created in 2026. Consisting of two acrylic paintings on canvas, each measuring 60 × 90 cm, the artwork explores the beauty of vast waters, changing skies, and the mysterious space where light meets darkness.

I created this diptych inspired by the endless transformations of the sea. I wanted to capture two different moods of the same imagined landscape—one dramatic and mysterious, the other luminous and open.

Deep shades of indigo blue, midnight blue, navy, charcoal, and blue-black contrast with luminous icy blue, turquoise, soft azure, pale aqua, misty grey, and white. Subtle touches of warm brown and muted earthy tones add depth to the cool palette.

Using palette knives and brushes, I combined layering, glazing, scraping, and expressive gestures to create textured surfaces, delicate reflections, and atmospheric transitions. Strong horizontal divisions suggest distant shorelines and the movement of water, while fine vertical marks introduce a contemporary geometric character.

For me, this diptych represents the contrast between stillness and movement, darkness and light. Together, the two paintings create a powerful yet calming composition that brings the atmosphere of the sea into modern interiors.
