Artwork description
A weathered tile roof curves into the frame from the upper left, its dark eaves tracing a slow diagonal against a pale, overcast sky. Beyond it, a small wooden pavilion rests on a low stone terrace halfway up a grassy slope, its own tiled roof echoing the curve of the one in the foreground. Paper-latticed doors and bare timber walls give the structure a quiet, unadorned presence. A dry stone wall separates the mowed hillside from the pavilion's modest platform, while the grass itself rises steeply toward the frame's lower edge, catching soft daylight. Layered forest climbs the hillside behind the building, dense green interrupted here and there by early touches of autumn gold. The composition places the viewer at a threshold, looking out from beneath one roofline toward another, distance and season suspended in a single quiet breath.
