Becoming I (2026) Original Watercolour by Annett Coumont

In this watercolor of cherry blossoms, I capture the moment when spring bursts forth with vigor. Swollen buds are taut with anticipation, while the first blossoms open themselves to the light.

The interplay of vibrant red and delicate white creates an intense contrast between becoming and being. Rendered in a fluid watercolor technique, the colors appear alive—seeming to expand, to breathe, and to merge with one another.

To me, this work embodies the pure energy of spring: an inner urge toward the light, borne by a quiet yet powerful dynamism. It is an image of new beginnings, abundance, and the palpable vitality of nature.
