Atmospheric Study No. 13 (2026) Original Oil Painting by Daria Zavadenko
28 x 28 x 2.5cm (framed) / 20 x 20cm (actual image size)
£219.43
Original artwork description
Part of an ongoing series exploring the relationship between horizon, atmosphere, and landscape space.
This original oil painting continues an investigation into light, atmosphere, and perception through a reduced landscape language. Built with expressive palette knife marks and layered oil paint, the composition balances abstraction with the raw energy of a stormy sky above a quiet, still earth.
Dramatic cloud masses in white, cream, and deep blue dominate the upper composition, their sculptural surfaces scattered with flecks of gold that suggest light breaking through turbulent forms. A sharp black horizon line divides the sky from a deliberately flat, decorative lower zone — pale and still, it acts as a counterpoint to the expressive energy above. The tension between the two registers anchors the composition in quiet drama.
Rather than depicting a specific location, the painting explores landscape as a space shaped by light, weather, and the passage of time. Rich textures and layered color relationships reveal new details with sustained observation.
