Atmospheric Studies: The Last Light
An expressive contemporary landscape capturing the fleeting beauty of sunset. Warm shades of amber, golden yellow, burnt orange and soft peach glow against a vast sky of muted blue, lavender and dusty violet. Deep navy and charcoal tones contrast with the luminous light along the horizon.
Painted in oil with a palette knife, the work features rich impasto, layered colors and energetic textural marks. Rather than depicting a specific place, it explores the atmosphere of a passing moment when the last light of day transforms the landscape into an interplay of color, light and shadow.
Part of my ongoing Atmospheric Studies series, this painting explores the relationship between an ever changing sky and the stillness of the earth, inviting the viewer to pause and experience the quiet intensity of dusk.
