Original artwork description:

This piece is a commission for someone who's parents own an estate and weaving mill on the southern tip of the Isle of Mull, off the west coast of Scotland.
The estate boasts a huge amount of wildlife, birds and sealife, and they also breed highland cattle and hebridean sheep.
The whole family are dog lovers so there are always a gang of them playing around you, and so I wanted to include the owner's two labs.

So for this artwork I created a watercolour painting with different patterns and shapes, using the colours of the sky, sea and land in watercolours and gold ink.
The painting was then cut into all the shapes and rounded to create a three dimensional effect.

Each piece is mounted on a small foam board plinth, at varying heights, which enhances the three dimensional effect, and helps to cast interesting shadows depending on where the light is coming from.
The pieces are attached to a backing of heavy watercolour paper, and framed in a glazed (perspex), deep box frame.

Please do get in touch if you are interested in commissioning something similar. I can create watercolours in any colour, or combination of colours, and the subject matter can be anything.

Materials used:

Heavy watercolour paper, watercolours, foam board plinths, gold ink, wooden deep box frame glazed with perspex
