Original artwork description
These young American oaks lead down a rural path towards a beautiful river, deep inside rural France. I had a strange moment of synchronicity there. By the river's edge I turned to a friend and said this is the sort of setting where you'd expect to see a kingfisher (I've only ever seen these elusive birds three times in my life). The very second the words came off my lips, a flash of metallic blue passed us, as a kingfisher flew upriver.
The impressionist oil painting is 12in x 10in (approximately 30.4cm x 25.4cm), using professional oil paints on canvas attached to board (gives the canvas a rigidity so it can be placed directly into a suitable frame with an opening of 12in x 10in). It comes unframed. It has been left 6 months before varnishing.
