Two people who hold on through whatever the years bring, and find they are still standing side by side. Closeness like that has nothing to do with distance.
Always Together is an original acrylic painting on board, 40 x 30cm, part of my ongoing series The Middle Country. It began the way these paintings always do, with a loose, accidental ground, half accident and half intention, made somewhere in the middle where the paint and I meet. Out of that ground came two separate peaks rising out of a wild green valley, cockatoos scattered through the gold trees below, and two figures, each perched on their own outcrop, held together across the distance between them.
I paint the things that mean something to me: my family, held in the figures and the birds who move through this glowing, imagined landscape. This one is about the particular bond that survives even when two people find themselves standing apart, closer than the space between them would suggest.
Painted with artist quality acrylics on MDF board. Ready to hang. Certificate of authenticity included. Ships worldwide direct from my studio in Brisbane, Australia.
