Alliance with Nature (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Marcus Sprigens

Alliance with Nature is built from a live copper patina reaction rather than paint applied over a finished ground. Copper salts dissolved in vinegar are drawn down the surface in vertical bands and left to behave as they will — blooming into turquoise verdigris, streaking into rust and slate, pooling and resisting wherever the acid meets the surface beneath it. The result reads like rain sheeting down glass, or the mineral stain a waterfall leaves on rock — weathering compressed into a single sitting rather than painted in afterward.
