After the Rain Clears is an original large green and beige abstract landscape painting by Tatiana Malinovscaia, created in 2026. Measuring 120 × 85 cm, this one-of-a-kind acrylic painting on canvas explores the changing atmosphere of water and landscape after rain, when heavy clouds begin to separate and light slowly returns.

When I started this painting, I was thinking about the particular moment after a storm when nature has not yet become completely calm. The sky is still dense with clouds, the water carries their reflections, and everything seems darker and more saturated than before. Then a narrow passage of light appears, and the entire landscape begins to change.

I wanted to paint that transition rather than a specific place.

The upper part of the composition is built from complex layers of soft grey, blue-grey, ivory, warm beige, taupe, pale blue, and muted sage. I allowed these colors to overlap and partially disappear beneath one another, creating an unsettled, atmospheric sky.

Across the center, lighter horizontal passages of white, pearl grey, pale beige, and cool grey-blue suggest water catching the first returning light. Darker lines interrupt this luminosity and create the impression of distant land, shoreline, or shadow without defining any particular geography.

Toward the lower part of the painting, the atmosphere becomes deeper and more dramatic. Emerald green, forest green, muted teal, charcoal, blue-black, dark brown, and earthy umber create a strong visual foundation.

Warm passages of ochre, burnt orange, rust, and earthy brown move through these cooler colors. They are not metallic or gold; I use them as natural warm accents that suggest wet earth, distant vegetation, or sunlight briefly touching the landscape.

I created the surface through repeated layers of professional acrylic paint, working with palette knives, brushes, glazing, scraping, dry-brush techniques, dripping, and expressive gestural marks. Some areas are densely textured and tactile, while others are deliberately softer and more transparent.

I often build a painting and then partially remove or cover what I have created. Traces of earlier layers remain visible beneath the final surface, giving the work a sense of history—as though the landscape itself has been shaped by weather and time.

Although After the Rain Clears contains recognizable associations with water, sky, shoreline, reflection, and distant terrain, I deliberately keep the image between representation and abstraction. I don't want to tell the viewer exactly where this place is.

It may remind someone of a coastline after a storm, a northern lake, wetlands beneath a dramatic sky, or a landscape remembered from a journey. Another viewer may see no particular place at all and respond instead to the movement between light and darkness.

That openness is important to me.

The composition is structured horizontally, but the surface remains active and spontaneous. The luminous middle section draws the eye toward the distance, while the darker emerald and charcoal passages anchor the foreground. From farther away, the painting feels expansive and atmospheric; from close up, it reveals scraped layers, irregular edges, drips, palette-knife textures, and small gestural details.

For me, After the Rain Clears is ultimately about renewal—not in a dramatic sense, but in the quiet way a landscape changes when difficult weather begins to pass. The storm has left traces behind, yet light is already returning.

The 120 × 85 cm vertical format gives the painting a strong presence while preserving a feeling of openness and depth. Its combination of neutral tones, luminous grey-blue, deep emerald green, and warm earth accents works particularly well for collectors drawn to contemporary abstract landscapes, atmospheric seascapes, and nature-inspired abstraction.

This is a unique, one-of-a-kind original acrylic painting, created entirely by hand in 2026. The artwork is signed on the front and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Please note: the painting is sold unstretched and shipped rolled in a protective tube for safe international transportation. It can be stretched onto wooden stretcher bars by a local framing professional after arrival.
