"Ad ogni usata, amante compagnia" (2026) Original Painting by Juliart

27 x 29 x 0.1cm (unframed) / 27 x 28cm (actual image size)

£868.03

This artwork belongs to my series inspired by Giacomo Leopardi's masterpiece, "Canto notturno di un pastore errante dell'Asia." The title explores the bittersweet bond with what we leave behind, focusing deeply on the theme of transience and the fleeting, evanescent nature of our existence. Using traditional Japanese ink, I wanted to capture the fragile beauty of impermanence—how everything around us, and within us, is constantly shifting and fading away. The fluid washes of black and the transparent gray textures do not depict a physical space, but rather map a psychological and spiritual state: a silent meditation on the passing of time and the elusive nature of life. It is an intimate dialogue between Western romantic melancholy and the Eastern appreciation for the beautiful, transient nature of all things.

Materials used:

Japanese ink (Sumi), water, paper
