Across the street (2022) Original Oil Painting by KAZUHIKO

This piece depicts a bright, sunlit street just a short distance from where I stand—close, yet distant.
Through a powerful composition of light and shadow, I sought to express a sense of longing, a feeling of admiration that seems just out of reach.

I took particular care to meticulously build up the tonal gradations in the areas of the building illuminated by the light.

This is an oil painting created using traditional techniques, with every step—from the primer to the final layers—done by hand on a canvas stretched over a wooden frame.
