A Stroll Through Italy

This is a vibrant watercolour capturing the warmth, colour and charm of a sun filled Italian alleyway. Tall, colourful buildings in shades of ochre, terracotta, coral and warm pink frame the narrow cobbled street, their traditional shutters, balconies and architectural details creating a wonderfully intimate Mediterranean atmosphere.
Beautiful cascades of vibrant bougainvillea spill across the buildings, adding flashes of vivid pink amongst the warm Italian colours. Small café tables and chairs invite the viewer further into the scene, while the distant church tower provides a focal point and gives the narrow street a wonderful sense of depth.
The loose, expressive watercolour washes and textured paper bring a lively, almost sun-dappled quality to the scene, while the strong perspective draws the eye naturally along the cobbled street.

Thank you for viewing my painting.
