A quiet path to Nogent-sur-Seine (2026) Original Gouache Painting by Diego Sinani Stepanian

35 x 28 x 3cm (unframed)

£323.82

Today I rode my bike from Marnay-sur-Seine to Nogent-sur-Seine, and somewhere along the way I found this small bridge.
I liked how the shadow under the arch was cutting through the scene, with the water on one side and the path opening into the light on the other. The place had a very simple composition, but the contrast was strong: dark greens, cool shadows, the reflection of the water, and those warm spots of light falling on the road.
So I stopped, parked my bike, took out my paints, and stayed there painting for a while. It was around 37°C, so it was honestly not the most comfortable plein air session. The paint was drying fast, the light kept changing, and I had to work quickly.
But I liked that moment. A quiet road, a bit of shade, the river, the bridge, and that strong summer light. Sometimes that is enough reason to stop and paint.
