A Quiet Moment (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Samantha Malone

"A Quiet Moment" is a semi-figurative abstract work from my "Forma collection", featuring a seated figure that has become a recurring theme within the collection.

The figure is built from strong geometric forms and a rich, earthy palette of mustard, deep green, brown, navy and black, lifted by vivid touches of orange and warm cream. Bold outlines hold the composition together, while the contrasting blocks of color give the figure a strong graphic presence.

Although the shapes are structured, the surface retains visible brushwork throughout. Layers of paint, subtle shifts in tone and the marks left by the brush soften the geometry and give the work subtle texture, depth and movement.

Within the Forma Collection, the seated figures explore a quieter side of the human condition. Rather than dancing or moving forward, they are relaxed, resting, reflective or simply taking a moment for themselves.

The artwork was painted on un-stretched Italian cotton canvas, with a 6cm border left for stretching onto a canvas frame. This artwork is shipped rolled in a tube for safe international delivery and can be affordably stretched at your local framing store.
