4249 "The First Egg" (2025) Original Oil Painting by Evgenia Saré

60 x 80 x 2cm (unframed)

£3,458.84

A figure walks through a darkened forest, gathering branches, when something stops them mid-step: a tiny white egg, held delicately between two fingers, as if just discovered, as if still warm. Above, perched on a branch, a strange winged creature with a horn and a very human face watches the scene with quiet interest - perhaps the egg's rightful owner, perhaps simply a curious witness.
Everything in this painting moves between wonder and unease. The deep blue-violet forest presses close on all sides. The figure's pink dress and orange heels seem entirely wrong for this nocturnal errand, and yet there they are - gathering wood, holding an egg, caught in some small private miracle.
I painted this as a moment of discovery that asks no permission and offers no explanation. The forest keeps its secrets. This is simply one of them, briefly visible.

About
I paint a world inhabited by creatures who exist between two states - neither fully human, nor entirely elsewhere. Jesters, puppets, dreamers, lovers, mask-wearers. Tender and grotesque, serious and absurd.... Read more
