4022 "The End of the Game" (2023) Original Oil Painting by Evgenia Saré

61 x 46 x 2cm (unframed)

Two women face each other across a round table, cards in hand. One raises the ace of hearts with quiet confidence - the game is decided, the outcome already sealed. The other still holds her cards close, her gaze wary.
Between them, a red vase shaped like a little house overflows with mauve and pink flowers - an island of tenderness in the middle of this silent confrontation. The deep purple, densely floral background closes around the scene like a curtain falling on the final act.
I painted this precise moment when everything still seems possible, and yet has already been decided. The end of the game is never really the end - it is simply the moment when one of them knows, and the other does not yet.
