I wanted to explore the fine line between the familiar and the uncanny. This piece, which I call The Surprise, captures a fleeting, dreamlike moment of sudden encounter—the delicate, tactile sensation of being blinded by a hand that seems to emerge from the very architecture of the scene.

My protagonist, with her elongated features and contemplative posture, is tethered to reality only by a thin blue ribbon, which connects her to an ethereal, small creature that feels like a ghost or a spirit of a dog. I played with contrasting patterns to heighten the surrealism: the deep, moody botanical textures on the left ground the figure, while the structured, polka-dotted green panel on the right creates a sense of spatial ambiguity, as if she is caught between two different worlds.
This work is an invitation to pause and wonder. I strive to create figures that feel timeless, balanced between a gentle grace and an underlying mystery. With "Surprise" I hope to spark your imagination and offer a focal point of quiet, strange beauty for your space.
