About Yaroslav Sobol

Biography

The artist’s style synthesizes the timeless elegance of ancient Greek sculpture, the refined realism of classical European painting, and the expressive freedom of modern art. Their work features idealized yet naturalistic figures with harmonious proportions, capturing the grace and serenity characteristic of Greek sculpture. Brushwork and composition reflect the meticulous craftsmanship of classical European masters, with attention to light, shadow, and depth that evokes realism and emotional subtlety. Simultaneously, the artist incorporates modern elements—bold colors, abstracted forms, or dynamic compositions—that bring a contemporary sensibility to timeless themes. The result is a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, creating art that celebrates classical beauty while embracing modern expression.

Yaroslav Sobol is an experienced Ukrainian painter with international exposure. With formal training in sculpture and painting, he seeks to combine the classical focus of his education with modern techniques and approaches. In his oil paintings, Sobol coveys the inner world of his characters, as well as their interactions with the world around them. He achieves a polished aesthetic with a strong narrative line.

Born in Zaporizhzhya (Ukraine). In 1988–1992, I studied at Kharkiv State Art College in the sculpture department. Graduated with honors. In 1992, I was admitted to the Kharkiv Institute of Fine and Industrial Arts (now Kharkiv Academy of Design and Arts) without entrance exams, having won the competition among graduates of Kharkiv State Art College. Studied at the Department of “Sculpture”. In 1997 graduated from the institute with honors. Won the competition among the students of the institute for training in Germany. Boris (Bob) Mikhailov and Sergey Bratkov were among the members of the jury. In 1997 trained at the Nuremberg Academy of Fine Arts.
