About Vera Hoi

Biography

"Through my art, I endeavor to evoke a profound state of presence and union with an essence beyond form. My work explores both the outer beauty of landscapes and the inner soulscapes, revealing the transformative depth of stillness, self-discovery, and the ever-evolving connection between the world and our being".
In my artistic experience,I explore nature as a metaphor for the inner world of human beings and as a pathway to restoring the lost connection to one’s identity. In today’s world of globalisation, migration and rapid information, people increasingly find themselves in a state of cultural and existential disconnection, losing a sense of belonging to a place, a community and a tradition. In these moments, nature acts like a universal language – it helps us to reflect on the essentials and find inner stability.
This connection to nature is not just an aesthetic impulse for me, but a way of recognising myself and my connection to the world. The depictions of branches, leaves and shadows of natural forms become symbols of an inner landscape in which change is inevitable, but where points of equilibrium always remain. Nature is beyond time and cultural boundaries – its rhythms are universal and intuitive for everyone. It becomes an anchor in the search for identity and a way to find resilience when trusted structures break down.

In my practice, I explore the concept of an “inner home” – a state of harmony and peace that one carries within regardless of external situations. This home is not geographically or materially bound; it manifests itself in the ability to find support within oneself and to accept change as part of the natural rhythm of life. Nature brings us back to our core values of embracing change, finding balance and recognising our own uniqueness.
My visual language is based on a combination of organic forms and abstract compositions. Nature is a universal code of memory and transformation for me, connecting past and present while remaining open to future changes. This relationship with nature in my work serves as a metaphor for the restoration of inner wholeness and a reminder that true identity is not created through external symbols and boundaries, but through a deep connection with the natural world and an awareness of self.
