Biography
Stefanie is an artist and graphic designer from Germany, who completed her artistic education in Hanover. In addition to abstract pieces, she also paints figurative works.
Her abstract, large format paintings are mostly inspired by seascapes, light, colour and rough cliff landscapes. She also likes to use collage techniques that contain materials such as linen and corrugated cardboard. Using layering and glazing, she works out the charm of these lands.
Stefanie's figurative artworks are also expressive and impulsive. They often have social and political ideologies attached, such as in the series, 'Cows Coded', which criticises how animals in our consumer society are treated as commercial goods. In her current series, 'One of the Big Five', she comments on the big game hunting and poaching industry, which threatens many species' extinction.
„Pure imaging of the models is not my interest, there are always also feelings transported. My style is abstract, informal, expressive painting on large canvas. Often I use acrylic, chalk, charcoal which I worked in the paintings. Also I like to collaged works with corrugated board, cotton and burlap. I wish my art could make one see a new view of things and help to see the beauty in everyday things, in small details and in the power of nature.
