About Andrey Smirnoff

  • Biography
I have been looking for my own path in art for many years, experimenting with the form and content of paintings. I consider myself a successor of the artistic traditions of the Art Nouveau style, trying to give my canvases decorativeness, smooth lines and roundness of forms, their flexibility and fluidity. My favorite colors are red, black and white, in which you can imagine white Russian snow, the brightness of ripe mountain ash and the decorative blackness of the trunks of the Volga forests. "The girl in the pictures is me, if I were a woman in another life. Or my great-grandmother in her youth, - I am not a museum artist. I am not interested in society. I am interested in the transcendental, timeless beauty that shines through in a beautiful woman, in a landscape, in I strive to create a generalized image, I am interested in an absurd color that you can believe in. In painting I want to be a creator who can afford to create what the soul wants.
