I am a self-taught painter, having been painting seriously since being made redundant from the framing & art gallery where I was employed. Living in a beautiful area of the UK, I draw inspiration from the harbours, estuaries, beaches & seas of Devon & Cornwall. I aim to recreate in paint the transient light & shimmering waters of these stunning locations "en plein air" (weather permitting!) I am particularly fond of painting & drawing old wooden boats.
Having started out as a watercolourist, I now find painting in oils & acrylics on panels & canvasses prepared by me with tinted gesso is my preferred method.
