Artworks by Monica Sarandrea

An artist based in Rome, Italy. Since she started painting Monica has always been focused on the observation of nature and landscapes. Working on colour perception and depth of field, she gradually moved from figurative art to abstraction. Layer after layer, the colour field becomes an inner lanscape, where, following her thread of thought, lines and visions appear.
As for her work on sculpture, Monica has been working on marble, clay and plaster since 2011. She likes to combine different media in her works and is particularly inspired by nature and the elements (especially water and earth).

The source of her work is also literature, particularly XIXth century French poetry. To her poetry as art is seen as a means to explore the unknown: the artist becomes a mediator between the sensible world, nature, and a suprasensible dimension. Her works are the result of an inner research deeply connected with nature and its spiritual dimension
