About Mazi Katanov

Biography

I’m driven to create art because I notice things—color relationships, worn textures, repeating patterns—that feel quietly emotional and often overlooked. Making art is how I process and preserve those observations. It’s a way of slowing down the world and translating atmosphere into something tangible.

Living in Los Angeles has sharpened that instinct. The city has a constant visual rhythm—sun-bleached surfaces, layered cultures, and an easy blur between art, design, and everyday life. Its inhabitants value design and have an appetite for all things creative art. Previously living in Paris, Sydney and Melbourne shaped me in different ways: Paris taught me restraint and composition, while Australia encouraged experimentation. Each place left a visual imprint that continues to surface in my work.

I’m interested in my work living in people’s homes, becoming part of their daily environment rather than existing only in a gallery context. I want my work to be enjoyed, a perfect fit in an interior space, not necessarily just collected.
