I choose watercolor to maximize transparency, focusing on capturing the interplay of light and shadow across diverse scenes—from the nostalgic streetscapes of Kyoto and Osaka to natural landscapes, steam locomotives, and streetcars.

To achieve dramatic contrast, I utilize a meticulous multi-layered masking technique. This allows me to retain bright highlights while rendering complex structures, lush foliage, and weathered textures like rusted metal and aged wood. Alongside this detailed approach, I also practice loose watercolor painting, relying on soft washes and wet-in-wet techniques. This simpler method brings me back to the pure essence of the medium, capturing the quiet, emotional beauty of everyday Japanese scenes.

My work has been featured in international art media, including a 4-page spread in International Artist Magazine (June/July 2019 issue, pp. 108–111).
