Biography
My name is Maryna Boiko, and I am a professional artist from Mukachevo, currently living and working in Lviv, Ukraine.
Watercolor is my primary medium — delicate yet unpredictable, much like emotion itself. I am fascinated by the interaction of water and pigment, when the paint seems to live its own life, creating effects that cannot be fully controlled. For me, each painting feels like a breath: fleeting, yet filled with meaning.
In my work, I often turn to flowers and natural forms. For me, they are not just beautiful objects but symbols of inner states: resilience, fragility, renewal, and growth. I am inspired by the play of light and shadow and by those moments when nature seems to hold its breath, suspended between stillness and movement.
Over the past year, my paintings have been exhibited in numerous shows both in Ukraine and abroad, including:
• 2025 — Between Worlds, Taras Shevchenko National Museum, Kyiv, Ukraine
• 2025 — II International Charity Exhibition "United by Watercolor 2025", Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art, Odesa, Ukraine
• 2025 — Graphics in Kharkiv, House of the Artist, Kharkiv, Ukraine
• 2024 — Sea of Watercolor, Central House of Artists, Kyiv, Ukraine
• 2024 — Unbreakable Borderland, Art Center, Shostka, Sumy Region, Ukraine
In 2025, I received the ROSA Award for my contribution to the group exhibition Time of Inspiration in Kyiv.
Painting, for me, is a way to slow down and truly listen — to notice what often goes unseen. I paint every day, seeking to capture quiet emotions in simple, fleeting moments: the shadow sliding across a petal, the fragile boundary between hope and uncertainty, the tender space where change begins to unfold.
