About Maylu García

I was born in 1963 in a town in Spain called La Solana, in the province of Ciudad Real. The love for painting I have always had; with 4 years I made my first watercolor and, since then, did not stop painting, except for some stages such as the time of university studies or the last professional years that had nothing to do with art and limited my artistic activity to make some works on request such as portraits and others, but always taking notes for upcoming works. In 2014, I made the decision to dedicate myself completely to art by setting up my studio / workshop in Madrid with the name of AURANTIA and this I have been doing since then. In my artistic career I have made numerous individual and joint exhibitions, as well as participated in art fairs and competitions  getting some national and international awards. 

My inspiration has always been the impressionist classics but I also like the current painting full of novelties and surprises. I like to develop myself in numerous techniques such as oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, mix with collages etc... and experiment with novel styles. My most recent activities have been the following:- Solo Exhibition 2015 in La Solana, Ciudad Real. - Children’s workshop in July 2015 at the Solana "Let’s paint the square" -Participation in the national art fair ART & BREAKFAST held in Malaga in May 2016 and - Individual exhibition HOMAGE TO MADRID with 24 works at the Cultural Center of Madrid Antonio Machado during May 2016. - Selected to participate in the international ART FAIR MÁLAGA 2017 as well as INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR SINGAPUR 2019.        - Individual exhibition in the Casa de la Encomienda room in La Solana 2017. - Workshop for adults 20 July 2017, creative painting. - Jury in the outdoor painting contest of La Solana, Ciudad Real and others contests. - Individual exhibition in August 2017in the auditorium of Ruidera, Ciudad Real. - Children’s painting workshop in August 2017 in Ruidera, Ciudad Real "mi pueblo en fiestas". - During the years 2019 and 2020 solo exhibition at the hotel Pulman*** in Madrid. Participation in collective exhibitions at AEDA during 2021 and 2022. Individual exhibition at the Municipality of Fresno de Torote in June 2022. * .     - June 2023 , selected my work "BETWEEN PASTURES" of 160 x 100 cm. for the NATIONAL EXHIBITION LARGE FORMAT WATERCOLOR to be held in Madrid from 7 to 24 September 2023 in the Gallery Casa de Vacas, Madrid.

. September 2023,   PRIZE HONORABLE MENTION in the watercolor contest for the 2024 AEDA calendar.

. October 2023 1º EUROPEAN PRIZE in the 26 European  Simposium of watercolor celebrated in Dublin by WCSI Watercolor Society of Ireland.

. February 2024,  my artwork The Oasis, was selected for the 27 European Simposium of watercolor,  in representation of Spain the next august in Finland.

. Mars 2024,  participation in the AEDA tichers exhibition in Madrid,  with 2 artworks.

*Professor of watercolor at AEDA (Agrupación Española de Acuarelistas) in the headquarters of Madrid. I have also been part of the board since April 2022.
