Biography
Ludmila Budanov is a Cypriot painter. She creates large-scale abstract oil paintings in a host of vibrant and bold colours.
Musicality Captured in Oil
Budanov is a professional musician, so it is important for her to capture the rhythm, tonality and tempo of music with a brush on canvas. Dynamism is essential to the pieces, where she wants to express a sense of movement and inconstancy with the shades of paint which vibrate against one another. Budanov is also inspired by the sea and the underwater landscapes and often her abstract paintings are inspired by the underwater flowers known as actinia.
Colourful Process
When it comes to her creative process, Budanov finds that imagination, fantasy and playfulness are all essential traits. Her unique and spontaneous oil paintings are always executed in bold or pastel colours that bleed into one another as if they have been submerged in water.
Cypriot Success
Budanov has exhibited extensively in her native Cyprus and in Europe in places such as Amsterdam at the Amsterdam International Art Fair in 2017. Earlier this year she exhibited her paintings at the Art Revolution Taipei art fair in Taiwan.
