    ABOUT LEO'S ART

Leo Baxiner is an impressionist who specializes in painting with oils, although in the recent decade he has been experimenting with adding acrylic paints.

“Acryl is chem, it allows to create a color of any shade, any brightness, any saturation, which is impossible to achieve with oils – the intensity doesn’t cut it. Acrylic paints just burn on a canvas.”

    - Leo Baxiner, “I Am a Different Man at an Easel”, Prague Telegraph, №34/327

The themes covered in his art are diverse: he enjoys creating awesome and positive interior paintings of sea, ships, city- and landscapes, floral life, but his somewhat darker and more abstract works have also gained recognition from both media and collectors. Part of his style is giving a clear texture to his art pieces, turning them into portals into the marvelous worlds painted with oils hanging right on your wall.

    EXHIBITIONS, GALLERIES AND MEDIA COVERAGE

Since 1983 Leo has regularly been participating in art exhibitions and art shows. One of his first big successes was the second place at the Nationwide Art Show in the late 80’s, while he was still living in the Soviet Union.

His latest major appearance was at his personal “Yesterday And Today” charity exhibition under auspices of ADRA global humanitarian organization and Russian Center for Science and Culture. During this event 40 of his paintings were exhibited for 2 weeks (Sept. 1-15, 2015) at the Crystal Hall of RSVK in Prague.

“Those pieces of art have been painted during many years; they depict various states of nature, as well as author’s fleeting dispositions and thoughts. A number of fantastic images that Leo created after a serious disease and coma were separated into a block called ‘energy paintings’.”

During the recent years he has been working with several galleries in Prague, which help him distribute his works in Czech Republic and beyond it.

Leo’s paintings are owned by customers from the US, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Australia, Russia, Ukraine and other countries. They decorate the walls of private collectors’ residences, as well as offices and business centers.

He is also a media personality, with a number of publications about him and his art covering the pages of newspapers, magazines and web sites.

    LIFE EXPERIENCES

“The living healing energy of the paintings fascinates me. I am happy to observe how changes for the better take place in the lives of friends who have my paintings.”

    - Leo Baxiner

Leo was born in 1958 in St.-Petersburg, Russia. He lived in the United States in the early 90’s, moved to the Czech Republic in 1999, and has been working from there ever since.

The world of paints and painting fascinated him since early youth. His favorite pastime is and has been drawing and modeling. This hobby and passion eventually grew into a profession, early on he worked in restoration workshops, and since 1980’s he has been selling his art pieces to collectors and businesses all over the world.

He sincerely believes his paintings are not mere wall decorations, but means of spiritual and material improvement and healing, a medium reinstating tranquility of mind and provoking thought within their owners at the moment most necessary. And indeed, he has collectors throughout the world willing to vouch for that.
